Set off for a weekend trip with a friend of mine to get some pictures of deer. These shy animals are not easy to track but if the wind is right we should have a chance. As we got close to the cabin friday night we saw two deer in the dark, so this looked promising. The following day we did some work at the cabin, chopping logs and stuff, and then set off to get some photos. It did not took long before we saw tracs of them, a lot. So we had some realistic hope to see them. During the day we found Eurasian Treecreeper and a few Goldcrest. As we went to our favorite spot, to wait for the deer to arrive, we bumpt right into two of them. Five minutes too late. Damn. And we where early. One of them was 50 meters from where we stood and the other just 20 meters. How typical, but nevertheless a great experience. To meet these animals so close is always great. Well, at least we know where they are. So next time I will set up my popup hide well in advance, waiting ...
